Laura Foster
School Nurse

I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with my BSN in nursing with a minor in Aerospace Studies. Later that same day, I got my commissioning as an officer in the United States Air Force. I served for seven years, my first duty station was in Ohio working in a large regional hospital. I worked on Medical/Surgical units and then began taking care of open heart patients in the ICU. I was transferred to Alaska in the middle of a cold January over twenty years ago. I continued working in the ICU and later in a surgical clinic.

After completing my Air Force contract my husband and I started our family. We have two boys in college, one daughter in high school, one daughter in middle school and one son in elementary. I have been working with the school district since my youngest child started school. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing and travel.
As you can see I love kids and especially like working with teens and high school students. I feel blessed to work at Highland Tech.

Meg Mueller
Teaching Assistant

I came to Anchorage 21 years ago. My daughter, Kate was born at the old Elmendorf AFB hospital, one month after I arrived here. I have a 12 year old cat named Zoey, who is fierce! I am an Army Veteran, who served four years in Germany. I loved it there!

I am a voracious reader with historical fiction being my favourite genre. I binge watch Netflix. I find peace in my sea kayak, and I rock at Wii Mario Cart! My favourite Pokemon is Geodude and I hate to have him evolve into the ugly Grovelor. My favourite movie is either Casablanca or Legally Blonde, depending on my mood. I have a Tumblr account that keeps me up to date on important issues, i.e., feminism, racism, LGBT issues, and gifs of Parks and Recreation.

I worked as a Special Education teacher with the Anchorage School District for 6 years. After that I worked in the High School Completion Program at Ninestar Education and Employment Services. I am excited to now be working here at Highland High Tech.
